Did Verizon block tethering apps?

If you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you might find this interesting. A complaint has been filed with the FCC, because the carrier has decided to block third party tethering apps for Andriod markets. The group, Free Press, claims that when Verizon attempted to block user access to tethering apps, it violated a Net neutrality agreement with the FCC that went into effect in 2008.

Mobile tethering apps transform smartphones into wireless hot spots that can connect multiple Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as a laptop  or a tablet, to a handset's broadband connection. By preventing customers from downloading tethering apps, Free Press believes Verizon is restricting the availability of apps and limiting the use of tethered devices. Read more...
